District schools win award for excellence in counseling

Four schools in the district were recently recognized by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) for their exceptional school counseling programs. Fair Oaks, Garden City and Oak View elementary schools and North View Middle School received the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation this year. Fair Oaks received their first recognition, with the other schools receiving their second designation as RAMP recognized schools.

The RAMP designation is awarded to schools that align with the ASCA National Model to deliver a comprehensive, data-informed program. Since the program’s creation 22 years ago, only about 1,200 schools across the nation have earned this recognition. The RAMP recognition is awarded for five years, after which the counseling team can choose to "ReRAMP" to maintain their RAMP recognition status.

With the new addition of Fair Oaks, Osseo Area Schools now has 15 RAMP recognized schools. This number of RAMP recognized schools continues to be a rare distinction for the school district and serves as a testament to the school counselor teams’ unwavering commitment to student success in academics, social-emotional development and college and career readiness.
